Bentley to switch from W12 engine to electric cars

According to the company’s website, the iconic W12 12-cylinder engine that Bentley Motors has been making for the past 20 years will be discontinued in favor of electric-powered cars.

“Over 100,000 examples of the iconic W12 will have been hand-produced at the Dream Factory in (Crewe, England) by the time production of the 12-cylinder petrol engine ends in April 2024,” said the carmaker.

The choice has been made as part of Bentley's "acceleration towards a sustainable future". According to the statement, the business will start making electric-powered car models at the start of the following decade.

Hybrid engines will be installed in vehicles following the W12 engine's discontinuation from manufacturing.
