Blackberry Business Model Changing in India and Elsewhere
In its official blog posted on Monday, Blackberry outlined its change of plans for business in India.

This blog was placed by the company following news reports about the decline of the company in one of the most promising smartphone and mobile telephoney market in the world.

The official note in the blog from the company says that the in India, the company is in the “middle of a significant transition”

“We are transforming from a business primarily fuelled by the sale of smartphones, into the leading enterprise software provider focused on cross-platform mobile security and productivity,” the blog note read.

As proof of the above statement Blackberry goes on to explain how the company is still present in the country (India) and the way the engineers of the company are building some of the most innovative telco solutions for the company. The R&D of the company has also been boosted by its association with the Hyderabad-based firm ValueLabs, says the company.

The company goes on to claim that all across the world, there has been a change in the pattern of their business structure.

“Change in our structure is inevitable, in India, and elsewhere in our business around the world. But there is huge opportunity in the mobility market and to ensure we can capitalize on that opportunity, we are actively recruiting, in India and other countries, for people who can fuel our growth and enable us to expand our leadership in security, privacy and the Internet of Things,” said the official Blackberry blog.

The company claims that for them, secure communications and data privacy ere the prime focus and this outlook to their business values has not changed over the years even with a structural change in business. These values, according to Blackberry, are what customers want from all over the world.
To site the kind of change that the company is talking about, Blackberry cites the example the Essar Group, a leading India-based multinational corporation in the steel, energy, infrastructure and services sector.

“We announced this week that Essar had selected BES12 to securely manage its data, apps and devices. BES12 manages Essar Group devices that run Android, BlackBerry and iOS, and is one of our largest cross-platform customers to date – demonstrating perfectly our new focus as a business,” says the blog.

Columbia's leading insurer Caprecom and Canadian hospital chain Mackenzie Health are some of the other recent cross-platform BES12 adoptees in other parts of the world.

The new business model of Blackberry across the globe allows the mobile operator partners of the company to take advantage of emerging business models and purchasing patterns. Among the first of the operators partners of blackberry I the world to launch our Enhanced SIM-Based Licensing solution is Idea Cellular, one of India’s leading mobile operators. This company uses the Blackberry applications and software to issue a single invoice for multiple connections and the users would be able to pay for their Enterprise Mobility Management Services in the same bill as their voice and data plan.

The new business focus and model for the company is to implement an end-to-end mobile security strategy for its customers regardless of the device type.  While focusing on providing solution, the company also has plans to continue with their device and service providing to customers.

“We may look different than the BlackBerry of old, but make no mistake – we aren’t feeling blue: these are very exciting times for BlackBerry,” says the blog note from the company.
