Bloomberg: US is discussing possible increase in gas production

According to Bloomberg, which cited sources, the US and Qatar, as well as Nigeria, Egypt, and Libya, are exploring the prospect of expanding gas supply in the event that Ukraine destabilizes.

"In addition, the White House is in discussions with gas producers such as Qatar, Nigeria, Egypt, and Libya in order to determine if they can expand fuel production in the event of an emergency," according to the agency,

On January 30, Josep Borrell, the head of EU diplomacy, stated that the European Union hopes to compensate for the volume of gas lost if Russia's supplies are curtailed at the expense of countries like the United States, Qatar, and Azerbaijan.

Officials from the US administration had previously stated that they were searching for alternative natural gas suppliers for European countries in the event of Russian supply problems. Qatar was named as one of the potential suppliers.
