EC suspects Red Bull of breaching antitrust laws

Investigators from the European Commission's antitrust division conducted inspections at Red Bull's European locations. According to AFP, which cited officials, the business was suspected of breaking EU antitrust laws by abusing its market dominance.

Representatives of the European Commission "visited the premises," according to Red Bull, on March 20. The company said, declining to elaborate, "We will of course work with them on all matters of concern."

The EC reported earlier that "unannounced inspections took place on March 20 at the premises of a company operating in the energy drinks sector in various member states". The EC then did not identify the business or the nations where the inspections were conducted.

The business could be granted immunity if it cooperates with the EC but risks stiff fines if found guilty of antitrust violations.
