The joint statement by the European Union and the United States regarding the framework agreement on trade reinforces the accords made by European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen and President Donald Trump on July 27 concerning the European Union's purchase of $750 billion in US energy resources. The announcement was released on August 21.

The declaration states that the United States and the European Union pledge to work together to guarantee safe, secure, and varied energy supplies, which includes removing non-tariff barriers that could hinder bilateral energy trade.

In line with these initiatives, the European Union plans to acquire liquefied natural gas, oil, and nuclear energy supplies from the United States, projecting a total purchase volume of $750 billion by 2028.

In earlier statements, representatives from the European Commission have consistently mentioned that the proposed $750 billion will encompass funding for nuclear reactors and investments in this field, ensuring that the energy volumes procured will align with the EU's requirements.
