European Parliament votes for "military Schengen"
The resolution concerning military mobility passed with 493 votes for, 127 against, and 38 abstentions.

The present geopolitical environment has once more highlighted military mobility and the pressing necessity to enable the swift cross-border transfer of forces and resources across Europe, according to the MEPs.

They highlight that military mobility is essential for guaranteeing overall European security and defense, and is important for the safety of the eastern flank, especially the Baltic states and Poland.

The EP resolution supports the European Commission's suggestion to raise the military mobility budget in the EU's upcoming long-term financial plan to more than €17 billion. MEPs urged EU member states to avoid diminishing this proposal in upcoming discussions, similar to what occurred in the 2021-2027 budget when the suggested funds were decreased by 75%.
