The new KFC addition will make its customers literally lick their fingertips.

The giant of fried chicken trends, KFC, has launched a new product that sends its tag line “finger lickin’ good” to yet “another level. The new addition to KFC’s menu features “two edible nail polishes” which has a marketing campaign’s part in the city of Hong Kong.

The said polish has been created from “natural ingredients” and comes in two different flavours; one is “hot & spicy”, while the other is called “original”. The advertisement firm, Ogilvy & Mather got together with McCormick’s food technicians to create the edible polish. McCormick provides the spices for “KFC’s secret-recipe chicken”.

The Hot & Spicy flavoured nail polish is “bright orange” in colour and the Original flavour has a “nude” texture. The said products are just like any other nail paints which hides the “sweet taste of KFC” at the fans’ finger tips, whereby “being lickable” at any time. A statement issued by KFC goes like this:
"To use, consumers simply apply and dry like regular nail polish, and then lick—again and again and again”.

Nevertheless, there could be resistance among customers to paint their nails with a polish that smells like their KFC fried chicken and can also be tasted anytime, for it may not fit “everyone’s idea of a breakthrough”. Likewise, Hong Kong based customers will be judge to help KFC decide which one of its nail polish “goes into mass production”. The Creative Director at KFC, John Koay, informed AdWeek:
"The recipe for our edible nail polish is unique and was specifically designed to hold the flavour, but to also dry with a glossy coat similar to normal nail polish”.
"This campaign is designed to be intriguing and fun to increase excitement around the KFC brand in Hong Kong."
