Recall that earlier the European Parliament Committee on Constitutional Affairs approved the agreement on the conditions of Brexit by a majority vote.

“Today, together with Ursula von der Leyen, I signed an agreement on Britain’s exit from the EU. Some things will inevitably change, but our friendship will continue. We are starting a new chapter as partners and allies,” Head of the European Council wrote on his microblog on Twitter.

On Thursday, the draft law on the conditions for UK withdrawal from the EU received royal sanction in the UK and became law.

The European Parliament is expected to vote on this issue on January 29.

After this vote, the parties will exchange ratifications.

At 23:00 on January 31, the United Kingdom will leave the European Union.

By the end of the year, however, nothing will change: until December there will be a transitional period during which the parties will negotiate on further relations.
