According to JPMorgan Chase CEO Jamie Dimon, a recession in the US economy remains a possibility even after the recent decrease in reciprocal import tariffs with China.

"If a recession occurs, I'm uncertain about its extent and duration." "I wish we can steer clear of it, but at this moment, we should not dismiss the possibility," he stated in a Bloomberg TV interview.

Dimon mentioned that he considers the perspectives of the economists at his bank, who also do not dismiss the possibility of a recession in the U.S. economy. Michael Feroli, the chief U.S. economist at JPMorgan, stated on Tuesday that the chance of a recession "stays high, yet below 50 percent."

Earlier this week, the U.S. and China reached an agreement to temporarily lower import tariffs for a period of 90 days. Prior to that, Dimon viewed a recession as a probable outcome.

Dimon noted, "The correct action would be to reduce certain tariffs and initiate a conversation."
