“We recently secured a significant agreement with Japan (...). Japan is set to invest $550 billion in the United States under my guidance, and the U.S. will receive 90% of the earnings,” Trump stated on The Truth Social.

He also mentioned that the US will start providing cars, rice, and other farm goods to Japan.

Under the agreement, Tokyo will impose a 15% tariff on imports to the US. In the meantime, a high-ranking official from the Japanese Prime Minister's office informed NHK that the agreements made were “the outcome of tough negotiations.”

“The information shared by President Trump on social media is accurate and appreciated by Japan. It stems from intense negotiations led by Minister for Economic Recovery Ryosei Akazawa,” the source mentioned.

Previously, the US President pledged to implement a 25% tariff on all imports from Japan starting August 1, 2025.
