As a result, Truss will take over as prime minister of the nation on Tuesday after Boris Johnson.

The foreign minister received 81.3 thousand votes, while Rishi Sunaka, a former finance minister, received 60.4 thousand votes, according to the election results.

As previously reported by Sky News TV, Johnson and Truss will meet Queen Elizabeth II on September 6. The following day, there may be a customary meeting with the prime minister in Parliament.

On July 7, Boris Johnson announced his resignation as prime minister and head of the British Conservative Party, kicking off the search for a new leader. Two candidates—former finance minister Rishi Sunak and British foreign secretary Liz Truss—made it to the final after the fifth round of voting.
