As clarified by interlocutors of Bloomberg, the agreement may be announced next week. However, negotiations are still ongoing and the deal may not take place. Microsoft declined to comment on the possible purchase.

Nuance Communications is a US corporation that develops linguistic and graphic software. It specialises in speech recognition software and graphics editors. It helped develop Siri for the iPhone.

Since 2019, Nuance Communications has partnered with Microsoft on technology that allows doctors to record voice conversations during patient visits and enter data into electronic medical records. If the Nuance deal is successful, it would be Microsoft's second-largest acquisition after the $24 billion purchase of LinkedIn Corp in 2016.
