02/16/2016

Mobile World Congress exhibition traditionally gathers all the best and new in mobile technology. Despite the fact that the show has not started yet, it is already possible to talk about what we can expect from the biggest event in the industry.

Samsung

At MWC 2016 exhibition, the South Korean manufacturer can show a new version of the Galaxy line, in particular the flagship S7. According to recent information, Samsung has decided to abandon the Plus-version of its flagship; these devices will not be presented at the show.

Previously, the manufacturer unveiled detailed specifications for Galaxy S7 and S7 edge, as well as their photos. The devices will have different display size: 5.1 inches for Galaxy S7 and 5.5 - for the curved Galaxy S7 edge (resolution in both cases - 2560 × 1440 pixels).

The global version will get chipset Exynos 8 Octa (four cores at 2.3 GHz, and four - at 1.6 GHz), and North American - Snapdragon 820. The smartphones will have 4 GB of RAM, 32/64 GB of non-volatile memory with possibility of extension for another 200 GB.

The camera is 12 megapixel matrix with increased speed and aperture f/1.7; the front - 5 megapixels. Samsung Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 Edge will be protected from water and dust (IP67) and get enhanced batteries - 3000 mAh and 3600, respectively (compared to 2550, and 2600 mAh batteries of the previous generation).

Critics also expect Samsung to present new VR-gadgets at the exhibition.

LG

In addition to its new flagship G5, LG will present X-series smartphones at MWC 2016 show in Barcelona. Now, users can learn about the two debut models on LG's website.

The first novelty is the X cam, the main feature of which will be a dual-camera with a resolution of 13+5 megapixels. In addition, the device will boast a front camera of 8 megapixels, eight-core processor with a frequency of 1.14 GHz, 2 GB RAM, 16 GB of internal memory, a battery at 2520 mAh and 5.2-inch display with a resolution of 1920x1080 megapixels.

The second smartphone - X screen, the name of which speaks for itself. Its main advantage is an additional 1.76-inch screen (520h80). In addition to this, the device is equipped with 2 GB of RAM, 16 GB of internal memory, two cameras 13 and 8 megapixels, a battery of 2300 mAh, a quad processor with a frequency of 1.2 GHz, and the main display (1280x720).

HTC

The Taiwanese company will miss the event in Barcelona, and the premiere of the new HTC flagship will be held in March. The reason for such a decision is unknown. Recall that One M9 was introduced at MWC show. Perhaps the manufacturer is simply trying to avoid bitter experience, since One M9 not particularly stand out against competitors.

Above that, the company is expected to present new virtual reality devices. Earlier, HTC’s representatives informed that now the company’s priorities turned to VR-technologies. News about HTC Vive project are awaited the most (HTC Vive is a virtual reality helmet developed by HTC and Valve within product range of HTC RE and Valve SteamVR project).

According to HTC itself, Vive helmet’s screens use a refresh rate of 90 Hz. It uses two screens with a resolution of 1080x1200. The device has a plurality of sensors, such as MEMS gyro, accelerometer, laser positioning sensors. In addition, the helmet offers two hand controllers. To accurately track position of HTC Vive and its controllers in the space (on the area of 4.5 by 4.5 meters), the device uses two external passive stations Lighthouse.

Xiaomi

Xiaomi will be a newcomer at the MWC 2016. Definitely, the company is going to release Xiaomi Mi5. The flagship model will be divided into two versions, depending on the body materials; each will receive 5.2-inch FullHD screen, Snapdragon 820, Home button with sensor Touch ID, 3 GB/4 GB of RAM and 32 GB/64 GB ROM, main camera of 16 megapixel, NFC and an expected price tag of $ 380.
