OpenAI co-founder Elon Musk has requested that the court take away Sam Altman's position on the board of directors of the OpenAI Foundation, which is the parent charitable organization of the company, according to a report by The Wall Street Journal.

Musk has revised his legal case against OpenAI, which was set for trial this month in Oakland, California, with this new change.

He is requesting more than $150 billion in compensation from OpenAI and its partner and investor, Microsoft Corporation.  He states that OpenAI has strayed from its nonprofit mission and has hurt him by converting it into a for-profit organization.

Musk also wants any damages awarded in this lawsuit to go to the OpenAI Foundation, and for Altman and OpenAI President Greg Brockman to give their shares and other financial assets to the foundation.

The entrepreneur has revised the lawsuit to clearly state that he is "not seeking a single dollar for himself," according to his lawyer, Marc Toberoff.

Toberoff stated, “He is asking the court to return all the assets that were taken from a public charity and to make sure that those responsible will never be able to do this again. This was the main point of his case from the start, until OpenAI's public relations team took control and changed the message.”

On X, the social media platform owned by Elon Musk, OpenAI stated that the legal action “remains nothing more than a harassment campaign driven by ego, envy, and a desire to discourage a competitor.” Microsoft did not provide any comments.
