The two-stage Electron rocket, which included the Kick Stage Curie upper stage, launched from Launch Complex 1 on the Mahia Peninsula in New Zealand on Friday at 1:43 AM local time.
About an hour after liftoff, the satellite was successfully inserted into its intended orbit.
The BlackSky satellite was launched as part of the Follow My Speed mission and is capable of capturing ultra-high-resolution images with a detail level of 35 cm. This satellite is the third in a series of five that will eventually make up the orbital constellation.
Once complete, these satellites will offer services to private companies and U.S. government agencies, including intelligence organizations.
