"Today we have fundamentally changed the design goals for the new Tesla Roadster," Musk stated. "If this vehicle qualifies as an automobile at all, it will have no counterparts."

The entrepreneur stated in 2018 that the Roadster would come with a "SpaceX option package" that would install 10 miniature rocket engines. "Maybe they'll even allow the Tesla to fly," he added.

Musk stated on Wednesday that Tesla and his aerospace company SpaceX will work together to produce the sports automobile that was revealed in 2017.

It is anticipated that the Roadster would reach 60 miles per hour (96.6 kilometers per hour) in less than a second; according to Musk, this is the "least interesting aspect" of all. According to Tesla's website, it is the world's fastest automobile.

The coronavirus pandemic altered plans for the model, which had been expected to be on the road by 2020. After then, the deadline was moved to 2023.
