Eni announced the discovery of large gas resources in the Cronos-1 well, which was drilled in Block 6 at a depth of 2,287 meters and 160 kilometers off the coast of Cyprus.
According to preliminary calculations, the reservoirs contain around 2.5 trillion cubic feet of gas, and according to Eni, a nearby second well is likely to reveal even more amounts.
After the Calypso-1 gas field was discovered in 2018, Eni Cyprus drilled their fourth exploratory well, the Cronos-1 well, which is the company's second in Block 6. Eni Cyprus, which owns a 50% share in the block, operates it in collaboration with TotalEnergies.
