The British and Irish prime ministers met on Sunday in Downing Street. The "importance and depth" of the relationship between the two nations, as well as the necessity of cooperation on international challenges, were topics of discussion at the meeting.

The Northern Ireland Protocol's problems can be resolved through negotiation, according to both the EU and Britain, the BBC reported.

At that, neither a formal press release nor a bilateral meeting announcement were made prior to Martin's visit to the office of the British prime minister.
