The Department for Transport announced in a statement that the overall program will amount to £650 million. Financial support will be available for buying new electric cars priced under £37,000.
The earlier subsidy program was discontinued in 2022. Since that time, the increase in sales has dwindled.
According to reports, sales of electric vehicles (not including hybrids) in the UK rose by 39.1% compared to the previous year, reaching 47,354 units, with their total sales share at 24.8%. The goal is 28%.
