"We need governments to urgently start working with technology companies on mechanisms to manage the risks emanating from the current development of artificial intelligence, as well as on monitoring and mitigating possible damage," Guterres stated.

Companies should actively take part in the creation of a management model for artificial intelligence, says Guterres, who believes that the private sector is at the forefront of this subject. Additionally, the Secretary General emphasized that the UN must take a united stance on this matter.

The UN Secretary General came to the conclusion that in order for emerging economies to fully benefit from artificial intelligence, systematic initiatives to increase access to the technology are required.
