The UN projects that after rising by around 1.8 percent in 2022, the United States' gross domestic product (GDP) will only grow by 0.4 percent in 2023.

The global economy will see a number of significant and mutually reinforcing shocks in 2022, among which are the conflict in Ukraine and the COVID-19 pandemic, according to the UN. The food and energy crises, according to the report's authors, are a result of the crisis in Ukraine.

The analysts list a climate emergency, increased debt burden, and growing inflation as more detrimental concerns for the world economy in 2022.
