US IPO stock market results break 2020 record

Initial public offerings (IPOs) show no signs of going down. In over than 6 months to the end of 2021, US IPOs have already reached $171bn, up $3bn from last year's record IPO figures, Reuters reported, citing Dealogic data.

Driving IPO growth are high corporate valuations in the stock market due to low Federal Reserve interest rates and cash payments after the virus pandemic.

The demand for stocks is benefiting not just traditional companies entering the stock market, but also so-called SPACs. The boom of intial offerings is expected to show new recordslater this year, when Chinese taxi and carsharing service Didi, online broker Robinhood Markets and electric car maker Rivian will go public, according to Reuters.
