Russia cannot be excluded from the International Monetary Fund (IMF), according to US Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen.

"Russia is a member of the IMF... The majority of IMF members agree that Russia's actions are heinous. However, given the regulations, it does not appear that it is conceivable to exclude Russia," Yellen stated this during a hearing before a House committee.

In response to Russia's aggression in Ukraine, Western countries imposed further anti-Russian sanctions, notably those targeting Russian banks and corporations. A number of firms have declared their exit from the Russian market and the closure of Russian manufacturing sites.
