The companies stated in a press release that this partnership will combine Momenta's cutting-edge AI-driven autonomous driving technology with Uber's worldwide platform, facilitating secure, scalable, and efficient robotaxi services “across Europe and beyond.”

In May 2025, Uber and Momenta established a partnership to launch autonomous vehicles in global markets beyond the United States and China. It was similarly revealed that the initial tests would occur in Europe in early 2026.

Momenta is already collaborating with German automotive manufacturers like Mercedes-Benz and BMW. The driver assistance system from the Chinese firm has been fitted on over 400,000 vehicles. Moreover, Momenta has rolled out a robotaxi service in Shanghai and aims to commercially launch it by the year's end without the need for human drivers.

Since the start of 2025, Uber's market value has surged 1.5 times (reaching $190 billion).
