WHO: Situation in the Gaza Strip is getting worse

Conditions in the Gaza Strip are getting worse, according to the World Health Organization (WHO), because Israeli attacks on the southern portion of the enclave have gotten more intense.

"Every hour, the situation becomes worse. There are heavy bombardments taking on everywhere, including in Rafah, Khan Younis, and these southern neighborhoods," Richard Peeperkorn, the WHO envoy in the enclave, said.

UNICEF, in turn, issued a warning, stating that security zones cannot now be formed in the Gaza Strip.

UNICEF spokesman James Elder claims that because most of the refugees who were compelled to flee the northern Gaza Strip districts have concentrated in the so-called security zones, where they are living in total insanitation, these areas are rapidly becoming death zones.
