03/04/2020

The World Bank (WB) has decided to allocate $ 12 billion to combat the coronavirus COVID-19, as well as to help countries cope with the negative economic consequences of the outbreak. Financial assistance will be allocated to low- and middle-income countries in the form of grants and low interest loans.

“This funding is designed to help member countries take effective responses and, where possible, reduce the tragic impact caused by COVID-19,” the WB statement reads.

Recall that the annual meeting of the International Monetary Fund and the WB was decided to be canceled due to the situation with coronavirus and "human tragedies associated with it." It was decided to conduct it in a virtual format. Registration for the event was suspended, and previously issued accreditations were canceled.

According to the latest WHO data, the total number of people infected with coronavirus worldwide is 90,870 and 3,110 deaths.
