Alisa Carroll, the company’s spokesperson, announced that the Scout development team is splitting up and finding new positions inside the company.

“We attempted to develop a novel delivery method while testing Scout, but we discovered through user feedback that several elements of the program didn’t satisfy their needs. We are ending our tests as a result and refocusing the program,” she said.

400 employees worldwide were working on the initiative, the agency reported, citing a source.

In 2019, Amazon started testing appliances the size of refrigerators. The six-wheelers were made to pull up to a customer’s front door and open the compartment housing the package’s lid. The business claimed that using battery-powered robots will help cut back on delivery-related greenhouse gas emissions.
