The Preem agency confirmed this information, but the details are not reported. As noted by Reuters, before the Swedish company was buying mainly Russian Urals crude oil. The Saudi oil purchase speaks of the increasing competition in the oil market in the Baltic region, where Russia has traditionally held a dominant position.

The interlocutors of Reuters added that Preem will process the batches of raw material to the end of November and then will decide whether to continue purchases from Saudi Arabia.

November 5, Saudi state oil company Saudi Aramco lowered the official price of oil for north-western Europe, adds Reuters. As the newspaper reminds, earlier, the Saudi Arabia started oil supplies to Poland, thus displacing the Russian market, which is estimated at 20 million tons per year.

It was reported that over the past few months, Exxon, Shell, Total and Eni increased purchases of Saudi oil for its European refineries. The cost of raw materials from Saudi Arabia is lower than in Russia.

As stated on the Preem’s site, the company makes 80% of oil refining in Sweden and 30% in Scandinavia as a whole. The company produces gasoline and diesel fuel, as well as oil and fuel oil. Preem recycles 18 million cubic meters of oil per year.
