Ukrainian producers granted duty-free exports to EU for one year

06/06/2022

The European Union has established a duty-free system for Ukrainian goods that will last until June 5, 2023. This is stated in the official gazette of the European Union.

"This regime takes effect the next day after it is published in the EU's official gazette. It will remain in effect until June 5, 2023," according to the paper.

The European Commission suggested on April 27 that all Ukrainian exports to the EU be duty-free for a year. The European Commission anticipates that this initiative will aid in alleviating the difficult circumstances in which Ukrainian producers and exporters are in as a result of the conflict with Russia.

Ukraine halted export of socially significant goods at the beginning of March. As of 2021, 40% of Ukraine's foreign trade falls on the EU.
