Volvo suspends plant operations in southern Sweden

Swedish car manufacturer Volvo Cars is suspending production at its plant in Torslanda in southern Sweden due to problems with the supply of semiconductors, the Göteborgs Posten newspaper reported.

It is noted that the halt will last from Tuesday to Friday because of problems with the supply of "special type" semiconductors from China.

"Most of it has to do with problems with suppliers there (in China)," Ian Tonkin, a spokesman for the manufacturer, told the newspaper.

Geely is one of China's largest car companies, founded in 1986. It owns Volvo, Lotus and a minority stake in Mercedes-Benz.
