Lufthansa acquired 41% of ITA shares from the government in 2024, and according to a pact with Italian officials, it has the opportunity to raise its ownership in the firm to 90% next summer.
The German airline group associated the timing of acquiring more ITA shares, among other factors, with how swiftly the latter can enhance its profitability metrics.
As of early 2025, Lufthansa’s market value has increased by 21.7%.
