According to the Venezuelan government, six new cases of coronavirus infection are being registered in the country per day, the total number of COVID-19 cases is 42.

“A few minutes ago I received a letter from the UN confirming that the United Nations system is ready to support the Venezuelan government in combating the COVID-19 virus,” he said during a speech, a recording of which was published on Twitter.

According to Maduro, the country has already received from China the first batch of 4 thousand test systems that will allow 320 thousand samples to be made, and it expects to do up to 2 million tests within a week with the support of China, Cuba and the World Health Organization.

The IMF said on Wednesday that it could not consider Venezuela’s request to allocate $ 5 billion to the country to fight the coronavirus “because of problems with the authorities.” The Russian Foreign Ministry called this decision hypocritical, and noted that the discussed possibility of a naval blockade of the country in the pandemic is unthinkable.
